Introduction to Google Pay

Welcome to our guide on integrating Google Pay into your website! If you want to accept payments through Google Pay on your website, you'll need to follow a few steps before you can get started. Specifically, you'll need to follow the main steps below. These steps will be provided in more detail in the next sections.

  • Check requirements for supported connectors and countries for Google Pay use.
  • Open a Google Pay account with the Google Business Console.
  • Start your Google Pay integration and testing with optional customisation.
  • Request production access for going live.

Requirements for Google Pay

  • Before starting your integration with Google Pay, it is necessary to check if your current connector allows you to process Google Pay payments. If you are unsure, reach out to support@totalprocessing.com and a member of our support team will be in touch.
  • View Google's Feature Availability guide for a detailed listing of payment methods and supported countries.
  • You will need to comply with brand guidelines for Google Pay. You can view these on Google's Brand Guidelines page. Please note, the Total Processing Copy & Pay Iframe is updated to the specifications of Google's brand guidelines.

Google Pay Accounts

The following table provides you with an up-to-date listing of the steps needed in order to fully implement the Google Pay payment method. Feel free to click on each step to direct you to the associated Google page for a quick setup.

  • Step 1: Sign up for Google Pay for Business

Create a Google Pay account for your business, allowing you to receive payments from customers through Google Pay.

  • Step 2: Verify your bank account

Link your business's bank account to your Google Pay account, allowing for the transfer of funds between the two accounts.

  • Step 3: Google Pay reviews your sign-up

Verify the information provided in the sign-up process, ensuring that your business is eligible to use Google Pay.

  • Step 4: Integrating and testing Google Pay

Integrate Google Pay into your business's payment system, allowing customers to use Google Pay as a payment method. This step also involves testing the integration to ensure that it is working properly.

It's important to note, within 'Step 5: Requesting production access', you will need to upload evidence to prove you have implemented Google Pay according to Google brand guidelines. As this evidence is test-based, it is recommended you perform this in Step 4, for faster time to go-live. Feel free to use the checklist below to see what this entails!

  • Step 5: Request production access

Apply for access to Google Pay's production environment. Please note, as part of this process, you will need to upload the required buyflow screenshots to Google to prove you have implemented Google Pay according to the brand guidelines. Use dss to see if your gateway acquirer is supported by Google Pay.

All about wait times! Important

Please note that requesting your Google Pay production access can take 1-2 days. During this time, it is worth checking all other areas of your integration are complete. We recommend you advise Total processing once this is performed for final checks at our end to make sure you won't run into issues upon your first live payments.
